The history of Johnstons spans two centuries of working with fine wools and rare animal fibres to create luxury products. Located in the far north of Scotland, our mill is one of the most beautiful in the country, and it is no coincidence that Johnstons Cashmere use the same soft Highland water during the manufacturing and finishing processes as that used to distil the finest malt whiskies in the world.

Each season our design team at Johnstons Cashmere create exciting new collections of fabrics, accessories and knitwear. Using purest cashmere from China and Mongolia and finest lambswool from Australia, our products are dyed, spun, woven and finished at Newmill, Elgin.

Traditional skills and expertise perfected over the last 200 years combined with the latest technology have left Johnstons unique as the only Scottish mill to transform cashmere from fibre to garment. Yarns for knitting, spun in Elgin are used to create luxury cashmere and lambswool garments in our factory located in the heart of the Scottish Borders. No trip to the Highlands is complete without a visit to Johnstons where you can be assured of a very warm welcome.
