Since teeing up at Turnberry in 2000 more than 600 players have played in the Drambuie Golf Classics from fifteen different countries. Golfers have played more than 2500 rounds of golf and clocked up more than 70,000 stableford points and have spent more than 3500 bednights in the five areas during their play. The average handicap of those playing in the event has been 14.1; the average ladies handicap is 21.7 and the male is 12.9 Average stableford points scored has decreased day by day and is it has been argued inversely proportional to the alcohol in the bloodstream. To date the Drambuie Classics have produced one Canadian winner, one German, two English (one lady) and five Scots from Cupar, Fereneze, Airdrie, Dalmahoy and Abbotsford. The highest individual points score for a single round stands at a superb 44 struck by Edinburgh restaurateur Gordon Scott at Grantown -on-Spey. So will any records tumble in 2003 - watch this space |
