Ayrshire
Golf Classic 2000
The
first of what we hope will become a series of events bringing golfing
visitors to all parts of Scotland throughout the year.
The
Ayrshire Golf Classic 2000 perhaps did not reach its target in terms
of numbers of visitors but set a standard for future events to match
up to. The competitors came from Europe, North america and all over
the UK and Ireland and we are sure many will return next year to
The Ayrshire or perhaps even one of the other two events planned
for Speyside and The Highlands.
Over
the four days the competitors remained fortunate with the weather
- a bit of a breeze blowing occasionally (it is Scotland's links
courses we're talking about here!) but no rain and some superb conditions.
Turnberry
played like the Championship course it is and the two Qualifiers
at Barassie and Bogside tested the shots of the players to the maximum.
Belleisle proved to be the hidden gem that we knew it to be.
Next
year it's onwards and upwards and we're sure that many of the competitors
from the first ever Scottish Golf Classic event will return.
The
results of the four days and the profiles of the first competitors
are available alongside.
