Welcome to the Scottish Golf Classics 2009
Ayrshire Golf Classic
The draw for the Ayrshire Golf Classic is now available - the times are subject to some ammendment so please just refer back to the site for updates. The Drinks Reception will take place from 7pm at The Barcelo Marine Hotel in Troon from 7pm on Sunday.
The Final Highland Golf Classic has teed off this week and the results and latest news can be seen on the Classics Blog.
This week's event is followed immediately by the Ayrshire event next. It's been great fun doing these events over the past ten years - the first event teed off at Belleisle Golf Course in 2000 - and we've met some great pople many of whom I'm certain we'll stay in touch with one way or another.
The Highland programme has been ammended slightly but will hopefully provide some fun for the small field playing and that they once again enjoy the magnificent and such different challenges and pleasures of Royal Dornoch, Brora, Golspie and Tain.
Highland Drinks Reception
The players are welcome to join us for an informal dram at The Dornoch Castle Hotel from 8pm - nothing formal but we'll meet you in the bar and give you your tee times and plans for the week.
Golf now starts at Golspie on Monday morning with the first tee time at 10.30am followed by Tuesday at Brora, Wednesday at Dornoch and ending at Tain on Thursday.
There will be a prizegiving ceremony at Tain immedaitely after the golf has finished with a light lunch. There will be an informal dinner at Royal Dornoch Golf Club from 8pm in the evening.
The tee times for the Ayrshire Golf Classic will be published on Wednesday morning on this site.
What were the Classics?
"Launched in 2000 the Scottish Golf Classics have become a regular return fixture in the calendar of many of our golfing friends from across the UK, Europe and North America. Open to both ladies and gents (and with full handicap allowance being given) these stableford events are what golf should be about.
“60% socialising, 40% competitive” was how one golfer put it. Well, we’re not sure about how competitive you want to make it but we reckon it’s 100% sociable!
Playing with golfers from around the world and enjoying magnificent and affordable golf and accommodation in Scotland; what more could you want from your golf break?"
Well maybe some time if the future they'll return!

Highland Homecoming Classic
Highlands of Scotland
Royal Dornoch, Golspie, Brora & Tain
26th - 30th April 2009
What better way to start the golfing season off than with four days wonderful golf in the Highlands? The four courses in The Highland Golf Classic combine to reflect just why Scotland is known as the Home of Golf. The grandeur of Royal Dornoch with its magnificent setting and rolling fairways; the rugged nature of Brora and its roaring seas; the mix of links and parkland and superb views from Golspie and the timeless sculpted holes of James Braid's Tain Golf Club. These 72 holes offer something for everyone and just the atmosphere of the area and the wonderful scenic drives to each course makes this event quite unique. The price also includes a complimentary fifth round over The Struie Course at Dornoch.
Ayrshire Homecoming Classic
West Coast of Scotland
Dundonald, Western Gailes, Barassie & Prestwick
3rd - 7th May 2009
The Ayrshire Golf Classic has always featured some of the very best golf available and for the 2009 Homecoming Classics we’re not sure it could get much better! 2010 sees the 150th anniversary of the first Open Championship on the traditional Prestwick Links so it makes it all the sweeter that it will be one of the host courses for the 2009 Ayrshire Homecoming Classic. The Dundonald Links is quite possibly the finest of Scotland's newest courses. Designed by Kyle Phillips (who was also responsible for Kingsbarns) the course just does not have a weak hole and we are truly delighted to have it on our programme. Western Gailes remains one of the finest golf courses on the Ayrshire coast and is supported ably by its neighbour Barassie.
East Lothian Homecoming Classic
East Coast Scotland
Craigielaw, Longniddry, Gullane 1 & 2
28th June - 2nd July 2009
After a gap of five years it's a welcome return to the programme for the East Lothian Golf Classic and with Gullane No. 1 and No 2, and the superb layouts at Craigielaw and Longniddry make up the fantastic four. AS well as the golf we have also arranged an evening at the famous Musselburgh Races and a visit to Belhaven Brewery! East Lothian provides some of the most challenging golf and some of the finest layouts in Scotland. Accommodation is available around Kilspindie, Gullane and North Berwick.
Fife Homecoming Classic
St Andrews, Fife
East of Scotland
Fairmont Torrance, Fairmont Kittocks, Crail Balcomie & Ladybank
20th - 24th September 2009
The Fife Golf Classic makes a welcome return after a year's absence and moves to the tail end of the year with its new September date. The golf itself however remains quite superb with a perfect mix of the old and the new.
The old is provided by two utterly compelling and entirely different layouts at Crail and Ladybank. Ladybank is one of the finest parkland courses in the country (give me it and Rosemount ahead of even the Kings or Queens at Gleneagles) and is located just a few miles inland from Fife's coast. It has hosted the Open Qualifiers when the event is at St Andrews and offers a delightful contrast to the rugged nature of Crail's coast hugging Balcomie Links.
The new is in the shape of the two courses at the magnificent Fairmont St Andrews Resort just south of the town itself. The two courses have had a lot of work completed recently and the Torrance and newly renamed Kittocks provide the feel of old style links courses complemented by magnificent facilities off course.
